Facebook gets a logo uplift for the first time since 2005
The update is only a refresh of the company’s wordmark, which is the text-only version of its logo used for identifying its brand. The new logo still combines the classic Facebook blue background with white lowercase lettering.
The difference: Now the font is a little thinner and the “a” got a face lift. The old Facebook logo used the Klavika typeface; the new logo is a “custom typeface,” according to the company.
Josh Higgins, Facebook’s Creative Director says that “the company set out to modernize the logo to make it feel more friendly and approachable” and settled on an update instead of a full redesign.
The actual Facebook ‘F’ logo isn’t being changed. The difference will be noticed where the full name is used.
