Dubai has launched smart uae wallet
Dubai has become the first country in the world to exercise paperless passports.
In a bid to promote smoother air travel within the country, Dubai has launched a new app named Smart UAEWallet for its residents. This app allows citizens to use their smartphones as passports, making Dubai the first country in the world to implement paperless passports.
At the initial stage, this app is available only to Dubai residents, who need to register to use this technology.
“The Smart Wallet will save passengers’ time and protect their documents and passport. Passengers will only need to use their smartphones at the smart gates and scan their fingerprint to complete the departure procedure with ease,” said Lt Gen Tamim, Deputy Chairman of the Police and Public Security in Dubai, as reported by The Gulf.
The app is available for download from the Apple Store.
In addition to the Smart UAEWallet, Dubai recently launched a Robocop to help local police identify suspects through facial recognition. With these innovations, Dubai is pushing forward to become the world’s first fully digital country, integrating AI and technology into every sector.
Moving forward, Dubai has also requested the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to develop new technologies for the law enforcement agencies and residents. Abdullah Khalifa, the Dubai Police Chief and head of the “Smart Dubai” initiative, made a formal request for this collaboration.
